I realise that the above is not the most exciting title but it best describes this esoteric requirement. We have previously published blog posts and web pages about retail packing; it is a huge part of our business, but, there is a particular part of that which is retail packing for DIY stores and major retail multiples, their requirements are very stringent. When you look at rolls of anti slip tape in DIY stores across the world then the chances are it was produced at a Heskins plant in either America or Europe. The branding may look different, the packaging style will be different, even the material may look different but it will have started on our production lines. Heskins provides a complete concept-to-delivery solution for major retailers. We typically first discuss their material requirements, what they want from the product, then sizes, once we provide them approved samples then we receive packaging design templates and instructions. We follow the instructions, produce initial samples then after sign-off we order in packaging materials, produce the material, pack, dispatch and invoice. Simple! Well, not quite simple but we try to make it look simple. Let’s look at that process in more detail.

Material Choice

This surprisingly varies. You would imagine that it is all black standard safety-grip but it really varies. Many DIY stores will only want our non-abrasive materials, some our heavy duty X-Coarse products and even more unusual products such as our coloured photoluminescent egress products.

Product Presentation

Most of the DIY customers take the products in small roll sizes: 2”x10’, 2”x5’ etc but we also supply anti slip tape provided kiss-cut on sheets, strips and disks on rolls and die cut sections.

Branded Cores

For the multiples, the standard is a branded core. We take care of all of this. We receive the customer logo design files, produce a proof then once signed off we order the cores, the cores are then used to create the finished product. We store all cores and take care of reordering.

Retail Presentation

We can help and advise in this area. Typically they are the formats below;

Full Shrink Wrap

We shrink wrap the whole roll in our shrink tunnel.

Half Shrink Wrap

The outer roll is shrink wrapped leaving the core open and exposed. The roll can then be further packaged with a sleeve, hanger or left as is.

Roll Sleeve

A thin carboard printed sleeve is designed, we then fit the produced material into the sleeves.

Top Tagging

We have packaging machinery that will allow the die cut pieces to be hung individually or in quantity.

Outer Box Packaging

We can outer box package to your requirement, often we receive a design file for us to purchase these or we are supplied them.

Instruction And Insert Packaging

We can insert further paperwork into the packaging, these can be printed and folder by Heskins as required.

Multiple Country Delivery Options

As Heskins uniquely has warehouse locations in America, EU and UK we can deliver the exact same material and packed to the required format in those markets just like you are buying from a local company.

Batch Test Reports

We do have customers who demand batch test reports, these can be provided. Internally we test various standards but also send for external testing, all dependent on discussion.

Volumes

Obviously the processes above are expensive for us to implement, but for volume orders which retailers typically are then these are fine for us.
