Heskins® anti slip tapes already feature high levels of resistance to chemicals, but the potential strength of a chemical to degrade the performance of Heskins® anti slip tape will vary. Common chemicals found in the workplace such as soap, water and certain petrochemicals will not affect the material’s surface. However, in very rare cases an anti slip surface can be submerged in a chemical that is very aggressive. Some of our customers do work with solutions that could be problematic in the performance of an anti slip surface, such as high concentrate MEK, toluene, acids and alkalis, amongst others.

For most applications, Heskins® conventional Safety Grip tape performs to exceptional levels, but in rare cases, there are certain situations that can cause problems.

What Makes Chemical Resistant Anti Slip Tape Different?

Heskins® modify the upper bonding resin to help prevent problems caused by most harsh chemicals. The resin has been designed to withstand long term exposure to high concentration, harsh chemicals. This has all been done, while upholding performance levels of the anti slip tape, with the same Coefficient of Friction ( grip level measure ) as our range of anti slip tape.

Applications

For almost all applications our conventional Safety-Grip range performs brilliantly. In a small number of applications one of two situations can cause problems;

1. Chemical retention

In this situation mild chemicals such as basic cleaning agents mixed with water and are trapped on the surface on the anti-slip tape with no way of escaping, the fluids form a reservoir and with no form of dissipation, over time, they can damage the resins that hold the minerals onto the plastic film.

2. Harsh Chemicals

Our Safety-Grip is not designed to resist harsh chemicals such as toluene, MEK etc. The chemicals are not commonly used but they can create problems for resins.

Chemical resistant tape has a modified upper bonding resin; this modification helps to prevent problems by resisting most chemical attacks. The resin used is designed to withstand long term exposure to high concentration chemicals. Chemical resistant Safety-Grip has exactly the same appearance as our normal Safety-Grip range, the grit looks the same, the adhesion is the same level, and it has the same levels of Coefficient of Friction (how grip levels are measured).

The optimal application temperature for chemical resistant is 50F or above.

At present, chemical resistant anti slip tape is only produced in black, but dependent on order quantity, it can be produced in any color matching Pantone or RAL references to suit your needs.

Our Chemical Resistant anti-slip tapes are designed to meet a variety of needs and are available in maximum roll widths tailored to each grit type: up to 35″ for 60 grit, 37″ for 36 grit, and 46″ for 30 grit, ensuring a durable and effective solution for your specific requirements.

Tape Thickness

Chemical Resistant Safety-Grip™ features a streamlined total applied thickness of approximately 0.004 inches, engineered for precision performance in demanding environments. Its ultra-thin PVC backing allows for exceptional chemical resistance while maintaining reliable adhesion to smooth, sealed, or lightly textured surfaces. This low-profile construction offers dependable slip protection without interfering with equipment, cleaning processes, or workflow, making it ideal for industrial, laboratory, and maintenance applications where durability and chemical stability are essential.

Chemical Retention

Some mild chemicals such as cleaning agents mixed with water can be trapped on the surface with no way of escaping, and with the fluids forming in the valleys of the anti slip tape can, over time, damage the resins that hold the abrasive grit on to the plastic film, causing it to shed.

Harsh Chemicals

Heskins® anti slip tape is not designed to withstand harsh chemicals, such as toluene, MEK etc. The chemicals can have a detrimental impact on the resin, affecting the anti slip tapes durability.
