Glow In The Dark Marking Tape

Smooth Surface

Fire Exit Safety

Suitable For Domestic & Commercial Use
Heskins announce their new high-quality egress glow in the dark marking tape, with the same construction as our popular egress glow in the dark marking tape, but with much longer glow times.
Benefits
Egress photoluminescent tape is a smooth demarcation tape, used for marking areas in buildings to guide you during power outs or lights out situations. The glow in the dark properties is from photoluminescent powder applied to the base film. When the lights go out, the powder, which is full of photons that store energy from natural or artificial light, release this energy in a bright glow, guiding you down stairways, along walkways and through doorways and exits.
Egress glow in the dark marking tape should only be applied on areas not exposed to foot traffic, due to the nature of the construction, it would degrade quickly from people walking on it. Application on door frames, walls, and edges of walkways is perfect and highlights walking and exit areas very prominently when the lights go out. Even door handles and light switches would benefit from its application.
What makes our high-quality egress photoluminescent tape different from our standard egress is the strength and time of the glow after lights out. High-quality egress glow in the dark tape is available in two versions, premium 8152 and super 8154.
The luminance of glow in the dark material is measured in millicandelas per square meter ( mcd/m2 ). Measurements of products are judged on how long an afterglow takes to reach 0.32 mcd/m2, which is when it is rendered ineffective. Premium is the best performer, at full charge taking approximately 1800 minutes ( 30 hours ) to reach 0.32 mcd/m2. Super takes approximately 450 minutes ( 7 hours ) to reach that mark. ASTM 2072 stipulates that the levels of luminance at 10 minutes should be 30mcd/m² and at 60 minutes should be 4.4mcd/m² and from the above results, we can show that they far exceed these regulatory requirements.
Heskins offer two versions of high-quality glow in the dark egress tape, to ensure you do not spend more than you need to. Depending on the glow times you require, will determine your choice of a cost-effective glow in the dark material.
Photoluminescence Classification
Photoluminescent materials are categorized into performance classes according to standards such as DIN 67510 and ISO 17398, which define how bright a material glows and how long it remains visible. These classifications range from Class A through Class D, with each level indicating the material’s luminance (measured in millicandelas per square meter – mcd/m²) and its ability to maintain visibility over time.
Heskins Premium 8152 high-quality egress tape achieves a Class C rating, representing one of the highest performance levels available for non-electrical, glow-in-the-dark safety materials. From a full charge, Class C materials maintain a visible glow for up to 1,800 minutes (30 hours) before fading below 0.32 mcd/m² – the point at which light is no longer visible to the human eye.
This outstanding performance makes Premium 8152 ideal for critical escape routes, stairwells, and large-scale facilities where extended visibility is essential during long-term power outages or emergency evacuations. For applications where shorter glow durations are sufficient, Super 8154, rated Class A, offers a cost-effective alternative while still meeting or exceeding ASTM E2072 luminance requirements.
Sizes
Both premium 8152 and super 8154 glow in the dark egress marking tape are available in roll sizes from 0.59 inches up to 48 inches in width and up to 164 feet in length.
Tape Thickness
High Quality Egress Glow in the Dark Marking Tape features a total applied thickness of approximately 0.015 inches, engineered to deliver dependable visibility and performance without adding excess bulk. Its flexible construction allows the tape to conform smoothly to a wide range of surfaces, ensuring consistent adhesion in both straight and curved applications. Despite its slim profile, this tape provides a durable, long-lasting layer designed to withstand foot traffic and environmental changes, making it an ideal solution for marking escape routes, stair edges, and safety-critical pathways where reliable glow performance is essential.
Photoluminescence Classification
Glow-in-the-dark directional marking tape, classified as a Class A solution, is widely recognized for its cost-effective photoluminescent properties. Heskins innovative tape absorbs energy from surrounding light and emits a bright glow in the dark, providing vital guidance during emergencies or power outages. Its affordability comes from its durability and low maintenance needs. Unlike traditional emergency lighting, this tape doesn’t require power or batteries, making it a smart, economical choice for long-term safety in buildings, ships, and aircraft. The photoluminescent features ensure that pathways, exits, and critical safety equipment remain clearly visible, helping to improve safety and meet standards like DIN 67510 and ISO regulations.
Custom Printing
High Quality Egress Glow in the Dark Marking Tape can be fully customised to suit the layout and needs of your facility, offering a dependable way to improve safety and wayfinding in low-light conditions. With personalised printing options, it becomes more than just a visual marker it transforms into a communication tool for directing movement, managing zones, and reinforcing emergency protocols. In warehouse environments, it can be used to mark temporary traffic routes with phrases like “SHIFT ROUTE ONLY” or “LOADING IN PROGRESS” helping staff and equipment operators move safely during busy periods. In distribution centres or postal sorting facilities, custom messages such as “QUIET ZONE NIGHT SHIFT” or “PRIORITY EXIT” can assist with workflow and evacuation planning. The tape’s glow-in-the-dark properties ensure visibility during blackouts or power failures, while the option to include arrows, icons, or multilingual instructions enhances clarity. High Quality Egress Glow in the Dark Marking Tape offers a tailored solution for any setting that requires safe, clear, and adaptable guidance.
