Behind every perfectly shaped piece of anti-slip tape, reflective decal, or floor marking lies a process that defines accuracy and efficiency – die cutting. At Heskins LLC, this technology is at the heart of what makes their tape and safety solutions so precise, reliable, and versatile.
What Is Die Cutting and Why It Matters
Die cutting is a process that uses shaped tools or digital cutters to cut materials into precise shapes and sizes. It ensures every piece is uniform, cleanly cut, and ready for application. For Heskins, this means offering customers anti-slip tapes, floor signs, and safety materials not just in rolls, but as custom-cut pieces made to fit their exact requirements.
The process improves efficiency, reduces waste, and guarantees professional results for applications where accuracy and presentation matter.
Advanced Machinery for Precision and Scale
Heskins’ production facility features large-bed die cutters with receding head presses capable of up to 40 tons of pressure. These machines achieve cutting precision within fractions of a millimeter, even across abrasive or heavy-duty materials like Safety-Grip tape.
Their web-fed automatic die cutting machines handle continuous rolls, ideal for large production runs. To boost capacity and reduce lead times, Heskins recently added an extra 40-ton rotary die-cutting (RDC) machine, enhancing speed and versatility for high-volume orders.
Tool-Less Zünd Cutting Technology
For intricate or short-run jobs, Heskins uses a modified Zünd cutting system – a computer-guided, tool-less cutter that eliminates the need for traditional dies. It uses CAD data to follow complex shapes with pinpoint accuracy, performing “kiss cuts” (cutting only the top layer) or full cuts depending on requirements.
This flexibility is perfect for prototypes, small-batch runs, or highly detailed designs. The Zünd’s integrated registration system, sometimes called the “magic eye,” ensures every cut aligns perfectly with printed graphics, minimizing material waste.
Range and Accuracy
Heskins’ die cutting capabilities cover everything from small, detailed pieces to large format designs. They can cut materials as small as 0.03 × 0.03 inches or as large as 36 × 64 inches, with accuracy within 0.007 inches. Both kiss-cut and through-cut options are available, depending on whether the material needs to stay on its liner or be completely separated.
Why It Matters for Customers
- Customization – Get shapes and sizes that fit your exact application.
- Efficiency – Reduce labor, waste, and handling time.
- Speed – Automatic systems enable quick turnaround on any order size.
- Precision – Advanced machinery ensures consistent, clean results.
- Flexibility – Tool-less cutting makes low-volume and prototype runs affordable.
