Glass Bead DOT Tape

Heskins glass bead DOT tape, as the name suggests, uses microscopic glass beads. These beads are applied to the surface within honeycomb-shaped grids which then bend a light source that shines at it and reflects it back.

The glass bead DOT tapes construction results in a reflection with a wider cone of light, limiting the distance of the retro-reflection values. However, while the wider cone of light isn’t as bright at long distances, it does reflect back at wider angles which are sometimes preferred at shorter distances.

Many see glass bead reflective tape as a more economy version, which is fair. But it still meets FMVSS regulations, and it’s construction also means it is cheaper to manufacture than microprismatic DOT tape.

When maintained properly, glass bead tape can have a retro-reflective performance of up to 7 years! This is not a guarantee, and as mentioned, will have this durability only with correct maintenance.

Sizes

Heskins supply glass bead tape in 2”x150ft and 2”x20ft rolls off the shelf. Custom sizes within roll widths of 1/2″ to 49″ can be produced dependent on order quantity.

Custom kit packs of our glass bead DOT C2 conspicuity tape are available for purchase. These packs are designed to suit most common vehicle configurations and come in the same range of colors mentioned above.
